MADRID (EUROPA PRESS) – Al menos cuatro personas han muerto por el paso del huracán ‘Milton’ por Florida, según un nuevo balance de víctimas divulgado este jueves por las autoridades locales, que aún intentan evaluar daños tras un temporal de lluvia y viento que el estado estadunidense no da aún por superado.
El condado de St. Lucie ha confirmado que cuatro personas murieron por los tornados que han azotado la zona. El gobernador de Florida, Ron DeSantis, ha explicado en una entrevista en CNBC que el estado ha registrado “muchos” tornados.
“Sabremos mejor qué ha pasado conforme vaya avanzando el día”, dijo el gobernador, al explicar el despliegue de los servicios de emergencia en algunos de los condados más afectados por el ciclón, que tocó tierra con categoría 1. Más de tres millones de hogares y empresas se han quedado sin suministro eléctrico en todo el estado.
El Centro Nacional de Huracanes (CNH) informó este jueves por la mañana de que el ojo de ‘Milton’ está ya 120 kilómetros al este de Cabo Cañaveral, si bien sigue avanzando en el océano Atlántico con vientos máximos sostenidos de 140 kilómetros por hora.
‘Milton’ es el quinto huracán que toca tierra en territorio estadunidense en lo que va de año y el tercero que impacta en Florida, que ya sufrió hace unas semanas el paso de ‘Helene’.
