BAKÚ, Azerbaiyán (AP) — Al volante de su Red Bull, el mexicano Sergio Pérez intentó atacar a Leclerc por el segundo lugar en la penúltima vuelta pero acabó chocando con el otro Ferrari, conducido por el español Carlos Sainz Jr., quien estaba cerca.
Sergio Pérez y Carlos Sainz Jr. se engancharon contra el muro cuando peleaban por subirse al podio, y Lando Norris remontó desde el 15to puesto en la parrilla de salida para finalizar cuarto — crucialmente por delante del líder del campeonato Max Verstappen.
Piastri largó en el segundo puesto con su McLaren por detrás de Leclerc, pero se adelantó con una audaz maniobra para superar al piloto de Ferrari en la primera curva de la 20ma vuelta de las 51 en el circuito urbano de Bakú.

Norris se encontraba cerca de Sainz y Pérez cuando chocaron y describió la experiencia de conducir entre los escombros que volaban por los aires.
“Tuve que conducir a toda velocidad contra un muro de fibra de carbono en la penúltima vuelta. Una locura”, dijo el británico. “No se podía ver nada”.
“Fue un buen día, estoy muy contento con el resultado y con el ritmo”, añadió. “Que Oscar pudo ganar y yo cuarto no nos lo esperábamos. Lo extra es liderar el Mundial de constructores. Empezamos el año siendo el cuarto o quinto equipo y ahora somos los más rápidos”.
“Tienes los pinches retrovisores de adorno, pendejo. Bájate que te voy a partir tu madre”.

Leclerc ha largado en la pole en las últimas cuatro carreras en Azerbaiyán, pero sin poder ganar una. “No ha sido un buen día para el equipo”, señaló al resumir la jornada para Ferrari.
Después del fallido intento de rebasamiento, Pérez se enganchó con Sainz en la segunda curva de la 50ma, con ambos acabando contra el muro.
“Salgo de la curva con bastante margen, y como Charles va hacia mi trayectoria, Carlos le intenta seguir pero yo estoy ahí”, contó el mexicano. “Fue un fin de semana desastroso. Teníamos que haber terminados segundos o terceros, aunque lo positivo es que tuvimos el ritmo todo el fin de semana. Creo que las mejoras han funcionado, pero todavía hay mucho trabajo por hacer”.
