CULIACÁN, Sin. (apro).- El comandante de la Tercera Región Militar, Francisco Jesús Leana Ojeda, afirmó que el fin de la violencia no depende ni del Ejército ni de las fuerzas de seguridad, sino de que los grupos rivales “dejen de confrontarse”.
La declaración la realizó al término del desfile del aniversario de la Independencia de México en Culiacán, durante una rueda de prensa celebrada en el salón de Cabildos del Ayuntamiento.
“Queremos que sea lo más rápido posible, pero no dependen de nosotros, depende de los grupos antagónicos que dejen de hacer confrontación entre ellos y que estén dejando a la sociedad en paz”, dijo.
El funcionario admitió que esta batalla es entre estas facciones y aunque no señaló nombre ni organización criminal, les adjudicó la ola de violencia a la vez de que justificó la presencia del Ejército y fuerzas de seguridad.
Durante su participación, Leana Ojeda dio a conocer los resultados de los operativos durante una semana de violencia en el estado en donde se han registrado 29 enfrentamientos, de los cuales 13 han sido agresiones directas contra militares, dijo, y que a la fecha sumandos militares asesinados además de tres heridos.

Además, explicó, se han detenido a 27 personas y se han liberado a cuatro personas que estaban reportadas como desaparecidas, quienes fueron encontradas en vehículos de personas armadas.
De acuerdo con la Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional, durante estos operativos se han asegurado:
- 101 armas largas
- 29 armas cortas
- Más de 25 mil cartuchos de diferentes calibres
- 57 vehículos, de los cuales 12 son blindados
- 1 patrulla clonada de la Policía Municipal de Culiacán
Desde la mañana del lunes 9 de septiembre en Culiacán se han presentado enfrentamientos entre los “Chapitos” y los “Mayitos”, grupos comandados por los hijos de los capos Joaquín Guzmán Loera el Chapo y de Ismael “el Mayo” Zambada García.
