Estadunidenses podrán recibir pruebas de covid-19 por correo gratis
Las pruebas podrán detectar los tipos más recientes de la enfermedad antes de las fiestas de fin de año, cuando muchas familias se juntan.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A partir de este mes los estadunidenses podrán pedir pruebas de covid-19 para entrega a domicilio por correo, y gratis.
Los ciudadanos podrán solicitar hasta cuatro pruebas nasales mediante el sitio web COVIDTests.gov, una vez que comience el programa. La agencia del Departamento de Salud y Servicios Humanos a cargo del programa todavía no ha dado una fecha exacta para el lanzamiento.
Un vocero de la agencia dijo que las pruebas podrán detectar los tipos más recientes de la enfermedad antes de las fiestas de fin de año, cuando muchas familias se juntan.
Los reguladores estadounidenses aprobaron el mes pasado una vacuna actualizada del covid-19 que combate los tipos más recientes del virus y, quizás, los tipos que vendrán en el invierno. Los Centros para el Control y Prevención de Enfermedades ya ha recomendado la vacuna de este otoño, para todas las personas de 6 meses en adelante.
Si bien la mayoría de los estadunidenses tienen algo de inmunidad debido a contagios interiores o vacunas o ambos, esa inmunidad va desapareciendo. Las vacunas del año pasado fueron contra una parte distinta del árbol familiar del coronavirus, un tipo que ya no está circulando.
