CIUDAD DE MÉXICO (apro).- Momentos de tensión se vivieron este día durante el Gran Premio de Azerbaiyán, pues cuando Sergio “Checo” Pérez (Red Bull) intentó atacar a Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) por el segundo lugar en la penúltima vuelta, Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) chocó su monoplaza contra el del mexicano y ambos terminaron contra el muro.
La acción impidió que ambos pilotos terminaran la carrera. El primer lugar se lo llevó Oscar Piastri (McLaren), el segundo fue para Leclerc y el podio lo completó George Russell (Mercedes). Por su parte, Max Verstappen (Red Bull) obtuvo la quinta posición.
Checo Pérez no sube al podio desde el Gran Premio de China, donde culminó en tercer lugar. Desde entonces han transcurrido once carreras. Tras el accidente en el que se vio involucrado con Leclerc, el Checo compartió una publicación al respecto.

“Lo más importante de hoy es que tanto Carlos como yo estamos bien después del incidente. Qué lástima terminar una carrera tan buena de esta manera. El coche estuvo excelente todo el fin de semana y pudimos luchar por la victoria hasta el final, especialmente después de la gran estrategia, si no hubiera sido por el bloqueo de Lando”.
